Three Government Officials Suspended for Corruption Suspicions

THE PRESIDENT of Liberia and former soccer player George Weah has suspended three officials for corruption.


That's after the US government announced sanctions against them for suspicion of corruption and misappropriation of public assets.

Suspended ministers

The officers are Nathaniel McGill who was the Minister of State and the President's Chief of Staff is alleged to threaten opponents and the misuse of public property, Bill Twehway who is the Director General of the National Port Authority he is alleged to have deposited the Port's money into his personal account. and the third officer is General Seyma Serenius Cyphus.


"President Weah considers the allegations against the officers contained in the report to be serious. Due to this situation, President George Manneh Weah has suspended the officials Minister of State Nathaniel McGill, Director General of the National Port Authority Bill Twehway and Attorney General Seyma Serenius Cyphus with immediate effect to enable them to face the investigation."
