Russian-Backed Rebels Claim Control of Village in Eastern Ukraine

Russian forces continue to carry out attacks in Ukraine

Russian-backed rebel forces have taken full control of the village of Pisky on the outskirts of the city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.

Moscow is seeking control of the largely Russian-speaking Donbas, which includes Ukraine's eastern Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

Russian forces have said that the village of Pisky is under the control of its forces.

The people of those regions largely support Russia and have held many areas since early 2014.

Russian news agency TASS has reported quoting separatist forces:

"Pisky village is under our control, it can be said for sure"

TASS quoted Llya Yemelyanov who is the Deputy Commander of the so-called People's Militia of Donetsky Republic.

Also, the Ukrainian Army on Thursday said that Russian forces have attacked Pisky at least twice a week but have been repulsed.
